Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 April 2026
1. Who runs this site
This website is operated by Jani Kaipainen.
Contact email: [email protected]
For data protection purposes, the operator of this site is the controller of personal data processed through the website, except where a third-party provider acts under its own legal responsibilities for certain processing.
2. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy applies to people who visit and use this website, including people who:
- read articles or other content on the site
- use the AI companion chat
- contact us by email
- interact with basic site functions
This site is intended for adults.
3. What data we process
We aim to collect and process as little personal data as reasonably possible.
a. Information you provide directly. If you use the AI chat, the message you enter is processed to generate a reply. If you email us, we process the information you include in your message and any related correspondence.
Because this site deals with sensitive personal struggles, we ask you not to include more personal or sensitive information than is necessary. Please avoid sharing things like your full name, home address, phone number, identification numbers, financial details, or detailed health information in the chat.
b. Technical and usage data. When you visit the site, limited technical data may be processed automatically, such as: IP address; browser and device information; page request information; approximate time and date of use; limited diagnostic, security, and anti-abuse records.
c. Local browser data. Some chat-related convenience features may store limited information in your own browser on your device, such as recent local chat history. This information is stored on your device, not as part of a saved chat transcript on our servers, and may remain there until you clear it, your browser removes it, or your device settings change.
d. Limited audience-measurement analytics. The site may use limited, privacy-conscious audience measurement to understand basic traffic and improve the service. This may include page views, approximate visit counts, top pages, landing or referrer information, approximate country-level location, and basic technical performance. These analytics are used only for the operator's own audience measurement and service improvement, not for advertising, profiling, cross-site tracking, data selling, or analysis of chatbot content.
e. Future optional features. The site may add features later, such as an optional email signup. If that happens, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain what data is collected, why, and how it is used.
4. How we use data
We use personal data only where there is a legitimate and appropriate reason to do so, including to:
- provide and operate the website
- generate AI chat responses
- maintain site functionality and security
- prevent abuse, misuse, fraud, or technical attacks
- respond to emails or support requests
- comply with legal obligations where applicable
- protect the site, its users, and its sustainability
- measure audience and basic site performance in a limited, privacy-conscious way for the operator's own service improvement and operation
We do not use your data for behavioral advertising, ad profiling, or cross-site advertising tracking.
5. Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases may include:
a. Legitimate interests. We may process limited personal data where necessary for our legitimate interests in running, securing, protecting, maintaining, and understanding the use of the site in a privacy-conscious way, including: delivering website content; generating AI responses; protecting the service against abuse or misuse; maintaining technical security; diagnosing errors and keeping the service functioning; and performing limited audience measurement for the operator's own site improvement, where permitted by applicable law.
b. Consent. If the analytics setup or another feature relies on cookies or similar identifiers that require consent, or if we later add another feature that requires consent, such as an optional email signup, we will rely on consent where required by law.
c. Legal obligation. We may process or retain information where necessary to comply with applicable law, lawful requests, or legal claims.
6. AI chat and what happens to messages
This site includes an AI companion chatbot intended to offer gentle support and reflection.
- No account is required to use the chat.
- Messages are processed in real time to generate a response.
- Chat transcripts are not stored at rest on the operator's servers after the response.
- However, limited traffic or request records may be retained for up to 30 days where reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud, abuse, or misuse handling.
- Third-party technical providers may process messages in order to generate a response, and their systems may have their own operational processing or limited retention practices.
- If local chat history is enabled, limited recent chat content may be stored in your browser on your own device for convenience.
Because messages may pass through third-party systems to produce a reply, you should not treat the chat as anonymous, secret, or appropriate for highly identifying disclosures.
Please avoid entering information such as your full name, home address, phone number, identity number, financial details, or other highly sensitive personal data unless absolutely necessary.
We do not promise that chat is fully anonymous. We aim to keep the service as private and minimal as reasonably possible, but technical processing is still required to make it work.
7. Cookies, tracking, and similar technologies
The site may use limited audience-measurement analytics to understand page views, approximate visit counts, top pages, landing or referrer information, approximate country-level location, and basic technical performance.
These analytics are used only for the operator's own audience measurement and service improvement. We do not use analytics or similar technologies for: ad tracking; advertising profiling; cross-site advertising trackers; or selling of personal data to advertisers.
Further details are described in the Cookies and Similar Technologies Notice.
8. Service providers and categories of recipients
We may share or make data available to trusted service providers only where needed to operate the site. These may include: website hosting or infrastructure providers; security and technical operations providers; AI or language-model service providers; limited audience-measurement analytics providers, if used; and email service providers used to receive or respond to messages.
We do not share personal data with advertisers for advertising profiling.
9. International transfers
Some technical providers used to operate the site or AI features may process data outside Finland or the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we aim to use providers and safeguards appropriate for GDPR compliance, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful transfer mechanisms where applicable.
10. Retention
We aim to keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. In general:
- chat messages are processed in real time to generate a response
- chat transcripts are not stored at rest on the operator's servers after the response
- limited traffic or request records may be retained for up to 30 days where reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud, abuse, or misuse handling
- limited audience-measurement analytics data, where used, are kept only for the period described in the Cookies Notice
- local browser chat history, if used, remains on your device until you delete it, clear your browser data, or browser behavior removes it
- emails you send may be kept for as long as needed to respond, follow up, keep necessary records, or handle legal matters
11. Your rights
If the GDPR applies to your data, you may have rights including the right to: ask for access to personal data we hold about you; ask for correction of inaccurate data; ask for deletion of data in some cases; ask us to restrict certain processing in some cases; object to certain processing based on legitimate interests; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
These rights are not absolute, and some exceptions may apply. If you want to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].
If you are in Finland, you may also contact the Finnish data protection authority. If you are elsewhere in the EU, you may contact your local supervisory authority.
12. Adults-only positioning
This site is intended for adults. We do not intend to actively collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the site, please contact us at [email protected] so we can review the matter and, where appropriate, remove the data.
13. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the site and the data involved in operating it. No website, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please do not share more personal or sensitive information than necessary.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site, legal requirements, or technical setup. When we make changes, we will publish the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
15. Contact
