When You Relapsed Again

New Every Morning

Lamentations was written from inside catastrophe -- not from the other side of it. And still the writer found this to be true: mercy does not run out.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

"New every morning" means the supply of mercy is not running low. You have not depleted it. The person who wrote these words was surrounded by the rubble of everything they valued. And still they found this to hold. If it held in that darkness, it holds tonight.

A Prayer

I fell again, Lord. I do not have an explanation or a defense. I just need mercy. You said your mercies are new every morning -- I am asking for one right now. Help me stop hiding and take one honest step. Amen.

One Next Step
